My haiku’s are freakin intense!

old news I know, but Bloodhound gang is really artistically brilliant. Most of their music videos are pure satire and it jsut makes me happy. Their music is incredibly catchy and their ability to hire very attractive women for these video’s is PRIMO.

anyways this is a pretty short post because I just wanted to share this video

this video is making fun of those “romantic” boy band songs

Death Cab For Hottie

I’m not one to eulogize celebrities, but Heath Ledger dying does bother me. He’s not much older than myself and he’s doing the sort of things I wish I could do. I would give millions of dollars to be able to be there before something like this happens because I find it fascinating. I also think that most people who commit suicide would have a lot to tell me. I’m not saying Ledger killed himself, but that seems possible at this point. His family did say no way to that idea though.

I kind of want to make a joke about how ridiculoudly hot he is.

hot?

I haven’t yet. But I know I will.

That brings me to my point - how am I supposed to react to the death of a celebrity whose films I enjoyed or a sportstar whose career I followed? I sometimes care. I’ll read about the individual’s life and think about what a tradgedy death was. But sometimes I care only enough to think, in my brilliantly eloquent mind, “that sucks.” But otherwise I’ll just let it slide.

Sometimes when a sports figure dies who I don’t know much about, I read the ESPN article about the death. If it isn’t interesting, I skim it and move on. I’ll probably forget who that guy was by the end of the week, maybe earlier. Other times, I’ll read the basic obit and it will be amazing. It will tell the story of a man who I’ve never heard of, but that I want to know more about. I’ll go out of my way to find out more information. I’ll read whatever I can get my hands on. I still forget that person’s name pretty quickly because I have a poor memory, but the story sticks.

Does that mean I care more about interesting people? I guess that’s the national concept in being obsessed with celebrities, but I don’t read Us Weekly. Is it bad if a player who I root for dies and I just skim the obit and go on? Should I care more. I remember when NASCAR drivers Davey Allison and Alan Kulwicki died when I was a kid. I was thunderstruck. When Dale Earnhardt died, I was astounded, but not upset. But then when Cory Lidle crashed his plane, I read all about him and his life. What does that say about me?

Sometimes you care more about a deaths than others. Sometimes when someone close to you dies, you feel bad that you don’t feel that bad about it. The infamous “I wish I were more upset” syndrome. But if a celebrity dies, that isn’t a real person to you. That’s a caricature of a person. But I liked Heath Ledger’s movies. I’m annoyed that now I’ll see more Josh Hartnett in roles that deserve actual actors. Is that a good enough reaction? I have yet to decide.

I’m sure other people have called this a tragedy, but I’d like to save that term for when something overtly disturbing happens to someone. People die everyday and not every death is a tragedy. Most are sad, that sadness a tragedy does not make. For now, all I’ve got to say is, “that sucks.”
